![]() ![]() ![]() Doesn't FreeCAD use both CSG and BREP? If I read the FCSTD file it has the brep stuff in there. I have read the above link, now I am confused. There's a nice explanation starting on page 4. If you're interested in reading a little on the differences between CSG and B-Rep, download the "Converting Geometry Between BRL-CAD and other Formats" PDF document available on the Documentation page. The former is more primitive in what it can do, and I don't think BRL-CAD can export to a solid format like STEP. FreeCAD uses OpenCasCade, which uses B-Rep (boundary representation). For one thing, BRL-CAD works with Constructive Solid Geometry only. I'm not sure the humanoid wizard code is portable. I might give it a try, just for the kick of it. BRL-CAD is a powerful cross-platform open source solid modeling system that includes. And it looks like rpm and deb packages are available on their SourceForge project page. ImplicitCAD is a programmatic CAD program, implemented in Haskell. Normandc wrote:Hey, I didn't even know that the BRL-CAD developers were working on a new GUI. giving an immediate really weird complicated "distorted cuboid" prism shape "thingy".īut FreeCAD still rules though! The "one CAD application to rule them all", sorry for the Tolkienism! So all edges could be NOT parallel in ALL axis, all different length, etc. So rather than creating a cuboid with rectangular/square faces you can create one with ANY face shapes. Thanks for that link! You must have read my mind! As I was reading your post, I was thinking I'll have to look up the differences between BREP and CSM and get a better understanding of it.Īrcher was a new Gui to BRLCAD made as a Google Summer of Code Project a few years ago, (I think it was the first GSOC year).Īrcher is great as far as it went, the problem is that it had very few features implemented and hence could do little.īRLCAD's plan is to merge MGED and Archer in the next major release, I believe.įor example you can make a "cube" by defining ALL 8 POINTS. Humanoid (24.73 KiB) Downloaded 96 times The file is neither zipped or tared so just delete the ".zip.tar" extensions and "Bob's your uncle"! These dimensions can be relevant for some applications but also being padded or extruded makes it easier to see in 3d mode. The "extrude" is to the width of my hand, across my knuckles at the base of my fingers and the "pad" is the approximate width of my shoulders. Mostly that's likely to be to much detail. I added one finger complete with joints on the hand. It is based on my approximate dimensions as attempted to be measured by myself on myself with a builder's steel tape measure, not the easiest of tasks, so is way inaccurate. Please remember that this was done in a hurry at 3 in the morning my time when I was dog tired. So, if it is working, could yo send me a file or an example ? I probably do a similar thing if I cannot find something ready to use. Emlaurent I would be interested by your example. ![]()
